Question exhaust question

ok....i used the search and couldnt find this one....what exactly does the catback have over a regular aftermarket muffler....does it produce more power because of new pipe or what.....cus the way i look at it is that a pipes a pipe.....whether new or old, it still does the same thing....or am i wrong about this one???

A universal muffler is just that, a muffler that can fit any car because it doesn't have any hangers or flanges attached. A bolt-on catback includes a length of piping (from the cat to the back...) a muffler and hangers. The benefit to a catback is that you don't need to fab anything, pull the old one off, slap the new one on. Which makes better power? Depends on the quality of it. A universal muffler with custom piping can make more HP than a bolt-on catback, and vice-versa.

And I'd lose this from your sig, its in violation of the rules, and its not too bright.

size does matter when it comes to exhaust piping....most stock systems are so puny in diameter so therefore more restrictive....
