How to run CAI in a 92???

Look....i know this is a repeated thread but i have good reason....my 92 gen3 camry looks a little different when compared to the 94....i want to make my own CAI......the stock intake runs around the battery which makes it a lot harder for a pipe....now when the pipe will end at the wheel well (or whatever its called, the place where the filter goes) it is capped off by a plastic thing on by the wheel....do i have to remove this plastic piece in order to suck in cold air.....i have some ideas of what to do but u guys who made ur own please help me out
