Hey man,

I was just curious as the gear ratio's on your 5 speed transmission.

You must have a longer final drive than the 4 cylinder tranny.. I was just curious as to what the differences are.

I found these ratios but they are for a 99 Camry v6 5spd:

First 3.23
Second 1.91
Third 1.26
Fourth 0.92
Fifth 0.73
Final Drive 3.93

Are yours different? Can any I4 5spd's post their gear ratio's? Humphrey?

thanks!

Okay I think this is how it is (at least for the 1992 Camry V6 SE 5-spd)

1st - 3.54
2nd - 2.05
3rd - 1.33
4th - 1.03
5th - 0.82
Final - 3.63

Just for general interest, here is what it is for the auto:

1st - 2.81
2nd - 1.54
3rd - 1.00
4th - 0.71
Final - 3.94

I'm not 100% sure about the ratios (I'll have to check the manuals) but I would agree that they're slightly lower than the automatic, for better acceleration. Also, the final drive is higher for better milage! Underline BETTER!! LOL, I love manual!

Hmmm that's a good question. If it follows the trend like the auto, the gear ratios are the same on the I4 5-spd as the V6 5-spd. Just a beefier tranny for the V6 in both cases.

You might as well!! If it were me, I would put the gears 1st to 4th a little lower maybe, and then make 5th REALLY tall so you still get wicked mileage. I dunno, see what the tranny people say, but that's what I think.
