' Landcruiser Engine Performance

I have a '00 Landcruiser w/ 50K miles. My wife has the same car with expection it is a '01 year model. Her engine responsiveness is much better than my vehicle. It has better acceleration and the transmission shifting seems to respond better. My engine tends to "lug" more than hers.

Be both use Premium fuel and both engines are in good shape with no engine problems nor are there any check engine lights.

Any suggestions?

Do your air filter, distributor, wires, and spark plugs. They may be getting to the point where they need to be replaced. You can check for worn plugs or a dirty air filter pretty easily yourself. Maybe oil change and transmission flush too. Maybe Toyota made improvements for her model year?

Clean your throttle body for carbon build-up as well.
