I have to rebuild my 4AF because the oil smells of gas, I am now burning oil.. I've had thin oil in the past, I always did change the oil every 3K.. I did a comp check.. things didn't check out to well.. and I get horrible gas mileage.. as in 160mpt..

My question is, will I NEED to have the cylinders over-bored or will I be ok honing the cylinders myself? I'd like to do anything I can to keep away from over-boring.

once you take it to a machine shop, they can tell you if you have taper wear or anything else that would require oversize. going ten thousandths over isnt a big deal, you dont sacrifice much on that , and usually, you dont need new pistions. your question on if you will need, you WILL need to have it checked by a professional
