Are you certain you installed the correct size o-seal, the distributer has no play when inserted properly into the exhaust cam and that the u-clamp and valve cover are torqued down properly?

If all these things are okay, maybe you can try using a slightly oversized o-seal. Get your hands on a vernier caliper and do some measuring.
Hope this helps.

When the valve cover's off, the hole that the distributor comes through to connect to the exhaust cam is actually made up of a semi-circular cut out on the head itself and the top part is a sort of u-clamp with a corresponding semi-circular cut out, which when clamped makes the circular hole you see there. Most times it's not intefered with when replacing a distributor, but in case it was, it would help to ensure it was torqued properly.

Question though, did you buy it loose from an o-ring seal kit, or was it a factory seal from the firm specifically for the distributor?

The reason I ask, is that u must bear in mind that the old o-seal that came off the dizzy would be hard and shrunken (likely also flat) with age. So buying one the exact same size would mean that it's still not making a proper seal, as opposed to buying a slightly larger one, or even better, the specific seal for that application from the dealership.

I'd a similar problem with oil leaking from the VVT solenoid on a 20V. The old seal was brittle and shrunken and flat and simply flaked off when I tried to remove it. So, I put the pieces back together and found a very very slightly thicker o-seal with the same inner diameter from a seal kit and it worked. Took a thin coat of oil to get it back in, but it hasn't leaked since.

Oh, and ensure that the o-seal u replaced is seated properly in the groove and hasn't folded out when u put the distributor back in. If it has folded, replace the seal (as it's now damaged) and try again.
