Simons Balancing Inc.

Took a few parts to get checked modded and balanced wed at Simons (pronounced Simmons).Pulling into the parking lot I see a fairly plain looking metal building.

Inside I drop my parts off with these men at the counter.

I asked if I could get a few pics from the door and instead got a tour. There was too many things to take pics of and I didn't want to hold them up on what looked like a good day so I got these.

The parts I dropped off include a 5efe crankshaft, first gen 5efe rods, 4efte pistons and pins, lightweight flywheel and light under-drive crank pulley. I'll be turning this engine 7000rpm daily and expect 200fwhp. This should make it a lot smoother.

Forgot to update this thread with the pics of the work done so.....

Ready to see the work but already suprised at the careful packaging.

The first part I got out was the brand new crank pulley. You'd think a solid aluminum pulley would be balanced by default, but this much was removed for perfection.

Then I got out the first rod. I haven't opened them all yet but here's what they look like now.

A little off the top...

And a little off the bottom...

Then I found pistons carefully packed under the rods...

And then the flywheel, pretty close for a multi-part item.

The last part in the box is the crankshaft. I'm not showing what all I had done to the crank, but here's a suggestion to others building a high output Toyota engine...

I had the keyway cut the length of the journal and a same size keystock cut for it. The original design is starting to hurt 4efte's now as the pulley and the timing belt cog share a regular key like this one.

So now I no longer have that as a concern.
