thermostat temperature?

i've been thinking about this today, which would be desireble and in which situations?

cold may give lower overall engine bay temps, but the engine may be more efficient at higher temps

ok, i think i got it straight, if ppl add water wetter to cool down even more then at least for track the lowest temp possible is desired

I guess what I would like to know is how much extra cooling will the water wetter and/or thermostat provide. Like if you bump the temps down out of the efficient range, isn't the ecu going to think it still needs to run in warmp-up mode and compensate by adjusting timing and gas and such?

Or is the deal that it'll just run at the lower end of the correct temperature range or not heat up as much when you push it?

water wetter cools temp down a little, buy lowering the temp the ECU wont keep the car in warmup,warmup shuts down at a pritty low temp,and your thermostate regulates your temp
