Post syncromesh........

I have been hearing from friends who use honda-tech as thier source of info for thier cars and they have aleted me to a product that I think is called "Syncromesh". It is supposed to replace the transmision fluid and in many peoples standards the differance of night and day with shifting and make shifting smoother and more precise than ever thought possible. I was wondering if anyone had any more info on this product?

synchromesh is gm's fluid for some of their manual trannies. i wouldnt reccomend using this, but instead go for the redline fluid. and remember to change the fluid at least every 30k.

I used it, and first hand, in my old E153 it worked wonders, and my synchros were shit, 2nd gear and 5th mostly. However i recently got a new Solara tranny, and ever since, I used MT90 and its been perfect, so I dont plan on using Synchromesh on this tranny (same code E153, but newer synchros). It depends on the condition of your tranny I think.

I've used MT90 and GM Syncromesh, I prefer straight syncromesh.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!! I am impressed by this crap. I used penzoil syncromesh and it is great! It fixed my third gear, for it went in rough before, and now it is peachy.

RECOMENDED!

Let me jump in here and ask how often should I change my manual transmission fluid (gear oil)?
This is for a 2001 5-speed corolla with 55,000 miles (~80,000 kilometers) on it.
Keep in mind I live in a VERY hilly area and drive pretty hard from time to time.
Also what fluid do you guys recomend? Redline MT-90?
I have ground 2nd gear more than I like to admit as well

You are recommended to change it once every 30,000miles. But who does that? Honestly. My dad has never changed his, And his cars last for twenty years. probably change it once every 60,000 miles. Driving hard doesn't really kill your fluid. If your syncos are crap and your shifter goes in rough. Than replace your fluid. The fluid I used, I don't recommend It until you have 201,000 miles on your car like I do.

Chris: on a modern tranny like yours - MT90 would be the best choice.

GM or ACDelco (identical fluid) Syncrhomesh... you get it from GM dealers for ~$5 a quart.

Cool. I am in no hurry to do it considering my car goes into gear like new (as long as the clutch is in )

I am getting a quickshifter soon as well
