Can someone tell me how to find out a pistons max 4000ft/min speed?

convert 4000ft/min into mm's, devide by the stroke in mm's that should give you the rpm's

4 000 feet = 1 219 200 millimeters

4age stroke is 77mm

so i get 15833

or would it be devided by 2 to give 7916

it would have to be divided by 2.. i can't imagine it being nearly 16000 lol

SO safely I could run my 7AFE up to 7100rpm.. I'm just wondering how they determine the redline for an engine.

That's only part of it. The strength of the rotating assembly, when the valve springs can't keep everything under control any more, and other minor issues also contribute to redline.

I see.. hmm So does anyone here have 7AFE expertise? I know I ran my 4AF up to 8K a few times.. no valve float.. I have longer duration cams.. and I normally ran it up to 7K with no issues.. The 7AFE has the same F head.. so anyone know what the 7AFE can really handle?
