Question odd idle

I have a 91 MR2 NA with 150,000 miles on it.

My idle is high. It just started doing this.

It idles at about 2000 when the engine is cold. Which it has always done. Then it will go down to about 1500 and stay there now.

Now when i rev it up real quick over 2000-2500 and let it come back down it will slowly go down to about 1000, sometimes 800 (800 is my normal idle). It will go down too if I drive on the freeway and then come to a stop.

But if i slowly rev my engine up to 1500, it will stay there. I dont think its the control idle screw because it will occassionally go down to where it is supossed to be.

It seems like something isn't pulling it all the way back down to normal idle. Does anyone know what this could be???

Thanks

check the throttle valve. butterfly, whatever you call it. its where the throttle cable ends. make sure it is closing all the way. if it is an auto, make sure that the tv cable isnt keeping it open some too.
