does anyone know what is an "EGR SOLENOID" ?
I was wondering if the solenoid has anything to do with the starter.

That solenoid has nothing to do with the starter, its emissions releated. What makes you ask this question?

egr is exhaust gas return. my dad just had the valve replaced on his car. it's supposed to take some hot exhaust and mix it in with the intake air to raise the temp. i forget how the whole chemistry process works, but it cuts down on emissions. but remember: cold air = more power therefore hot air = less power. damn, the epa and green peace suck.

A solenoid is a electromagnetic switch that uses electricity to close or open (they are all or none). I'd have to guess that an EGR solenoid is used to close or open a (diaphram) valve to let exhaust gas back into intake manifold as previosly stated to lower emmissions.

The starter also has a soleniod that engages it and disengages it however it is not connected to EGR, that I've ever heard. Sorry I didn't answer question in last post.
