For the purposes of tuning, the wideband is always the better choice, as EGT's are an estimation of AF based on tendencies, including RPM, throttle position, probe location and exhaust restriction. Widebands are gas analyzers, and if up to temperature, will almost always provide more detailed information on the actual mix regardless of other influences. Both suffer alone in that they cannot generally measure each cylinder, unless of course you have the dough to get one per runner...EGT can get you to a safe level of tune, but should never be relied upon for fine tuning purposes.
