need some help from experienced toyota specialist
I'll include a little background...
Been trying to buy a 97 Avalon forever - you just can't find a good one. They're all 250k miles and messed up. So I bought one with 155 K miles and a bad engine. It's been hit, too, but it was cheap - $2,900, walking out the door. It has the tan leather - I hate the white looking stuff! Moon roof and all that...
Put in a JDM engine/trans. I'm having two problems trying to get the !~@#$%^&*()_ !! check engine light to go out.
They (autozone) tole me bank 1 was the front but while reading here I learned it is the back. I think the issue with the 02 sensor (that got bent as the engine went in) is solved.
QUESTION: If the o2 sensor does not throw any more codes but a code P0773 (I'll talk about that soon) is still there, will the computer go into locked loop? I hope so - after all the other code is for the transmission?
The P0773 seems to be a transmission code. Someone said it is the result of a blown torque converter lockup mechanism and the trans is doomed.
Is that right? If so I guess I'll have to get another trans from the folks that sold me the one I have and then put it in. Oh, joy...
Now matter what it is, somehow it will be ruined, so that you can't enjoy it...
