better cai

what is the point of a cai when the air heats up in the tube when it reaches your engine bay? i thought alot about this and came to a briliant (correct me if i'm wrong)conclusion...use the air conditioning.
every one has heard of air to water intercoolers and air to air but they are limited in efficiency you add weight with water and soon i gets just as hot the other sometimes the outside temp is hotter than you like sure you can use sprayers but soon you need to refill, am i right?
so i thought and walked around my house, garage, and yard when i saw the ac unit and got an idea
(you guys are hating the fact that i'm carrying on huh?)
if you wrap the pipe in aluminum tubing tightly and put a couple of coils of tubing in front of the evaporator fill the tube with deicer washer fluid using a small resivoir and a pump to move the water through the system make sure there is no air in the system hook it to the ac switch that way when you turn on the ac both systems will work together to reduce the air temp more efficiently and constantly without freezing the line.

it will take time to do it but it will be worth it.
i'll get my freind to let me use his camera so i can post pics so you can get the idea
this wont work for those of you who decided not to fix your ac or the ones who decided the turbo needed more room

That's totally NOT worth it for a CAI. Have you done the calculations on the amount of drag the the A/C compressor puts on the engine vs. the gain you will get for a slightly cooler air charge? ???? The math doesn't work out.

You know that your throttle body and intake manifold run at about the coolant temperature of your engine (about 200ish *F)?

Your argument almost works for a forced induction car where there is a much larger temperature difference to work with, but even then, your average A/C system would likely be overwhelmed by the heat...

Engine tuners and racers do things how they do them for good reason - it works better than other options out there. It would be a good idea to learn what they do and why they do it (by learning from the brilliant people who are already working on these problems) before trying to come up with your own schemes...

I apologize if I come off a bit harsh. Good luck with your car.

I will have to agree w/charlie. Good thinking though.
hood scoop can lower cai tubing temperature if you do it right. will not use as much resources.

just rip apart the air conditioning that is giving you nice coolness on hot summer days and wrap it around your intake almost as good as the people who take it out to reduce weight and still leave their back seats in.

i think that it would only be cooling the outside of the tube and at the speed the air is travelling through the intake it woldnt even have enough time to cool a big enough portion of the air to make a difference.

How long is the intake charge in the tube at WOT before it hits the manifold? .05 seconds??
When my car is at operating temperature, it is probably pretty warm under the hood, maybe 80 degrees F.
If it is only 50degF out, do you really think the air is going to heat up 30 degrees in half a second or less?? I doubt it.

this is a little more technical than what 2wickedtoys said, spray 10-12 coats of ceramic based engine paint on the tube
