How to drive a manual transmission (videos)

Found this on another forum. Kinda nifty

http://www.standardshift.com/videos.html

Man, I remember my mom taking me out in her Accord to this church parking lot to learn -- and getting so frustrated with it cause the clutch contact point was so close to the floor. Good thing she's a patient lady. I ground gears so many times that day... also a good thing Hondas are pretty resilient.

Well.. over here you have to do the test-drive with stick, or you get a marking on the card "can only use automatic transmissioned cars". I learned how to double declutch before I had a license, because I used to drive tractors at my uncles farm.

I learned in my first car a '90 Accord. I have to say that Honda manuals have to be the easiest to learn.
That car took everything I threw at it and more.

I took Young Drivers of Canada, and i learned how to drive in a Nissan Sentra 4dr, and coupe (in automatic). I passed the motor vehicle test in an automatic Sentra Coupe.

I learned how to drive manual in the AE92

I learned on a 1973 Olds 442 I loved that car, would pass everything but the f'n gas station Btw that was back in the early 80's when cars like that were commonplace and CHEAP. Sometimes I miss those days

My dad often tells me about his old 442 from back in the day. His had some kind of pimpin hydromatic auto tranny or something. Can't remember the name. My uncle had a 442 but with the upgraded gearset option. Auto, too. Apparently he used to just take everything that ran against him on the strip

FWIW, I know very, very little about that era of cars... I just have a soft-spot for old school muscle

That video is cool but pretty worthless unless you have a 300HP V8 like this guy's M5.

Try starting your Corolla from 1,000 rpms and it'll bog like hell.
Shit 1,000 RPMs is idle.
