I am in the middle of rebuilding a 5S-FE engine and want to replace the stock rod bolts with ARP bolts. Does anyone know if the rod bolts used in the 3SGTE is the same as the bolts used on the 5SFE rods?

ARP has them listed for the 3SGTE motor but not the 5SFE. According to the service manual, the bolts for the 5SFE are 8.0 mm in diameter.

Thanks,
Steve

well i am moer a 4age head, but i DON"T think they are the same, as even the blocks are similar but just one is taller i think the head demensions are different, and the 3sge head MAY be taller..

call up ARP and see if they got 5sfe bolts or check with other guys that have rebuilt their 5s-fe's

I will call ARP tomorrow (err, I guess later today). I posted here because I thought I may find someone who rebuilt a 5sfe...was that wrong?

my knowledge is totally 4age based, and a bit of 3sge/gte, but thats it...

Do you have a service manual for the 3sgte? If so, do you know what the diameter of the connecting rod bolts are?

Yes, I am turbocharging it. The forged pistons and plasma moly rings are ordered and the block and crank are at the machine shop. Next comes the head...

Check out my web site for a full story.

If you want arp bolts...order them quick. after talking to numerous guys, ARP has something like a 4 to 6 month turnaround for their studs, because of the size of their operation....really small.

Order them quick

Found them!

It lands up that ARP does make them, they just list them under another engine type.

And they only cost USD $36 - $45, depending on where you buy them from.
