New tire?

Ok...so I had to warrentee a tire today because I was stupid on Sunday night.... ( http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/t37050.html ) and now I have three tires with 7/32 tread depth and one with 10/32 tread depth. NOT the most ideal situation, but I couldn't afford to get another new tire to match the warrentee.

Question: Where should I put the new tire? Right now, it's on my front passenger side. Is it ok to leave it there? Or would it be better to switch it onto the rear? All three of the other tires have the same wear characteristics since I rotate them twice a season.

I don't know a whole lot about tires but on Tires.com I read that whenever you don't get a full set, its better to put any new tires on the rear to prevent fishtailling.

The best tires should be where your car makes the power.

FWD in the front
RWD in the rear

BUT only if they have even wear, there is no point in putting a completly bald tire mated with a good one cause you wont get an even traction (one will slip and the other will bite the road) sending you in a spin.

I would take the two that have the same wear and put them where traction takes place (like I said before, Front if it's FWD or Rear if it's RWD) and the other two on the other spot

What's the condition of your spare tire? If you're like most ppl, it's prolly brand new. Take it out and pair it up with your new tires in the front.

Dood....you forget that I've got a set of 17" wheels on my car... 225/45/17.... Overall diameter is pretty close...but somehow, I think matching a 195/70/14 with a 225 wide tire would make it even more mismatched?

If the rear tires ain't to bad i would put them up front. Just so it is balanced. I dont think you want to lose any handling.
