well you could either paint right over it or take it out and either tape the iside of the hole or hold newspaper right behind it so that the paint doesnt get on the inside of the drum. either way works.

I used Dupli-Color high temp engine enamel to paint my calipers, drums, valve cover, and pipes (intake piping).

It comes in 500 degree and 1200 degree.

1200 is overkill for calipers. Anything rated to 500 degrees will do you fine...get beyond 500 and the boiling brake fluids will likely be a greater concern!

That looks like a pro job man, good work..

I've painted my rear drums, but because they were badly rusted I had to sand blast them to save myself alot of time and labour, then I sprayed them flat black, but high heat paint..

It's alot easier just to take them off, and it's not hard to take them off, just hit it a couple of times and then jiggle it and it will slowly come out, sand it down with rough sand paper and then soft, if you start with soft it will take you weeks...
