What would happen if I use regular car paint to paint the caliper? Would it burn? Or would it melt? Or it's ok?

If you dont use hi-temp paint, there is a high chance it will probably either fade or chip. Just get hi-temp paint from Canadian tire or Pep Boys, its cheap.

Caliper is the thing that holds the brake discs in place, right?

It holds the brake PADS in place, and when you press the brake it presses down on the rotor or brake disc.

50 degree!?!?! Calipers get crazy hot! Dude, go to Crappy Tire or Home depot and just pick up a can of Tremclad High Temp Enamel paint in your favourite colour.

Good luck!

You have nothing to "worry" about if you paint it using the wrong paint. Worse case, it begins to look fugly and you redo it.

i mean it will be the next hot JDM trend

perhaps you've seen pictures of F1 cars braking.
ever noticed their rotors get red hot?

think that's paint? nooo, thta's HEAT

50 degrees?

ever touched a piece of metal at 50 degrees? it's fairly warm right.

but you know the boilign point of water right.

so you tell us if 50 degrees max would work or not

well from experience i could tell you 2 things. get high temp engine paint. i used the 1200 degree paint so i knew it would stand the temp. just a lil overkill. second use a high temp primer. when i first painted my drums it worked nice. but after a while even though i got rid of most of the rust, without the primer the paint didnt stay well. the paint started to chip. plus when you use the primer the paint will look brighter. so three steps.

1. sand off all rust and clean off dust.
2. spray 1 or 2 coats of high heat primer.
3. spray as many coats of the high heat paint as it takes to get to your desired color.
