RHD and LDH HID differences

So we all know that the halogen headlights for RHD and LHD cars are aimed differently and that the reflectors inside direct the light differently depending on which side you drive on. On LHD cars, the light is aimed more towards the right and up a little bit, and vice versa for RHD cars. Does this apply to HIDs as well? I saw an HID kit from TRD Japan for their Vitz (our Echo Hatch) and was wondering if the same aiming problems are encountered with HID projectors from cars that are driven on the opposite side?

Yes. You will have the same aiming problems.

If its just a 'kit' though, using your same housings you won't have the same problem... you will have a different problem with beam spread and probably blind oncoming drivers anyway.

So there's no way to fix the beam spread problem? The last thing I want to do is blind the oncoming traffic...that's just not cool... (hint to all those who drive with high beams and upward aimed fogs )

Let me add that on some projectors, like a ece valeo projector, it has a lever on its side that can change the flare from LHD to RHD or vise versa. I think some are build Just one side flares... But for HID, it's all about preference, if you don't want to glare drivers on the left I suggest that you keep the flare:

___________/```````````_____/`````````````

Most DOT HID, we don't have to worry about the step flare...

________^------------_____^-----------
(Something like that)

If you are going to a projector retrofit; you have to make sure that the cut off are as streight as possible.. or else, you'll make the same mistake as I... :-D Search for my post regarding HID and you'll see my cutoffs..

I'm not looking to do a retrofit... I don't trust myself to cut and paste such expensive items myself! I was looking for a straight swap from a RHD car. Since it's not a DOT part, the 'flare' could be a problem if they aren't switchable.
