C52-5th Gear Problems

5th gear keeps popn out and I have determined that it is the teeth where the sync. goes in are worn. Has any one done a fix with out replacing the $150 gear that worked?

Its odd to hear that the c52 is having trouble with it, as most of the ones that i am accustomed to talking about come from the aw11's. The reason that the c52 was used in the mr2's was to combat the problem of 5th gear pop-out. It was well known with the c50's those cars first came out with. have you checked all your linkages, all your mounts? does it go in and stay in every other gear fine?

I have an ae92(1990) and I am pretty sure its a C52. The C50 had a different gear ratio for 1st and was built for the 4A-FE. Ive had the cover off of the end of the transmission. I found that the teeth for the blocking ring on the 5th gear were worn. It wont hold the syncro sleeve in. The dogs are not worn exessively. It only pops out of gear when load is applied in 5th. Im thinking of filing the teeth to get an angle again. Shit load of teeth though!
