to any autobody expert here, anyone know how much it would cost to replace windshield glass and custom make the metal area between the sunroof and the front windshield?
you have to sand it down, alot, using one of those rust removal wheels you can mount on a drill
basically it is not for your average do it yourselfer.
when they install the new windshield, tell them to fix it.

that might not be the best idea, since the ppl installing windshield knows sh*t all about proper body repair.
from what you told me simon, just og to a reputable body shot. last hting you need is 2" think filler/bondo.

If there is considerable rust around the windshied and a pillars, it might be a hefty job to do, especially if you are thinking of doing it yourself. Reason being that, the proper way to remove all the rust, would to be cut out the section and then weld in a new piece and sand, and paint.
That's if you want to do it the right way, instead of ghetto bondo.
Welding is easy... it's cheaper than taking it to a shop, plus you get to have a welding machine afterwards! Canadian Tire sells two types of welders... one is around $400 and you need the 220V plug to plug it in, and it's for heavier welding, and the other is around $700 or less, is for lighter welding, but plugs into a normal outlet. Go check it out at Canadian Tire.
but you have to remember, you do have to pay for electricity if you get your own welder, and welding itself is easy enough, but doing a good job? Remeber, you are doing body work, something everyone will be able to see, especially by the windshield. IMO i wouldn't do it myself, if i didn't have welding skillz. It's too hard a task to do especially if you are n00b (on a welder)
and welding a new roof on is not easy. shure you might be able to get it to hold, but you also have to get your welds smooth and strong.
If you wanna pee into the wind, go ahead and try it yourself. But i wouldn't
