spraying water on tires

at autox events ive seen a lot of people using little spray bottles to spray water onto their tires inbetween runs. whats the purpose of this? to cool the tires down?

lol if they'd spray water onto the brake rotors to cool them down, it would cause them to warp!

hahahhaahahahahaha...

It's a chemical that they spray to make their tires "tacky" and really sticky. I think it may be VHT.

its not water its called tire softener..
or VHT but VHT is commonly used in drag racing... To apply VHT you would need to do this 2 to 3days before the event...

The most likely candidate would be tire softener because you spray it on a couple days before and then 30minutes before each session...
