easy clutch replacement on 83 4wd tercel

Someone gave me an 83 4wd Tercel with a worn out clutch. The engine runs good but the body is a real POS so it's getting stripped and turned into a rally beater.

My question: is there enough room to pull the clutch out if I was to pull the radiator, unbolt the engine and move it forward 6 inches?

It looks like moving or removing the engine is going to be easier than pulling the transaxle. Am I right?

PS. What does SR5 stand for?

I can't help you with your clutch question... but SR5 stands for "sport rally 5-speed" or something like that. It doesn't mean much on the newer Toyotas, but that's what it meant originally.

Pull the engine right out to change the clutch, you can't get to it with the engine in. No harder than moving it forward when you consider you can centre the clutchplate properly and easily while the engine is on a bench. Not that hard really, just a few wires and hoses to undo. grab yourself a workshop manual.

I found someone with a hoist and that's what I ended up doing. Initially I didn't have a hoist so I was trying to come up with ways to do it from the ground.

The throw out bearing was disintegrated. The only thing left was one ball bearing and two pieces of the bearing housing ground into big washers. The pressure plate was shredded too and missing most teeth. I was amazed that there wasn't any more damage.
