I'm thinking of selling my Chevy, and going for a '95+ Taco.

I've seen some quick ones around where I live, and know that TRD and alot of companies make a butt load of aftermarket pieces for them.

To me the kings of the mini trucks are 4.3L V6 S-10's and the 4 banger Tacomas.

The first race I had in my S-10 was against a Tacoma, I absolutely got my a$$ handed to me. Ever since then it was either another S-10, or a reg. cab, 2wd 4cyl, 5spd. Tacoma.

I really like Toyota, and have the most respect for them out of all the import car manf. The only Asian import company (that I know of) that makes a V8. And is fully dedicated to drag racing, which to me is very cool, especially for an import manf. to be in.

What size is the Tacoma 4cyl? How much HP/TQ does it make? What are other options for performance besides what TRD has? Anyone make computer upgrades? Header? Head parts? Cam parts?

What do you guys suggest?

Sorry if this isn't the place to ask.

Hey there,

I don't think TRD has stuff for 4-cyl taco, but I'm pretty sure they have headers for the V6/V8. And the TRD S/C just came out for the V6. (Check toyotaguys.com or toyotaparts4u.com for price)

Also, someone in Teamsc3.com has a S/C Taco that spanks Civics asses, you might want to check them out.

Welcome my friend

TRD does make a SC for the 4 banger I'm not sure for what year though.

----------------------------------------
Also now available is the new TRD Supercharger for 2.7/2.4L 4Cyl Tacoma and 4Runner.

Designed to enhance the performance of the 4-cylinder-powered 4Runner and Tacoma, our newest Supercharger is a bolt-on unit that can provide up to a 35% power increase across a broad range of RPM's. To further enhance engine performance, TRD includes a fine-tuned electronic interface that manipulates fuel and spark timing, resulting in maximum power, fuel economy and emissions. The two-piece cast aluminum manifold features a durable black powder-coated, semi-gloss finish with a cast silver TRD logo. (Part Numbers 701-706)

If the SC ends up being compatiable give me a call for a ride

There are 2 4-bangers offered for Tacoma in that year.

The Tacoma 4X2 got the 2RZ-FE 2.4L
This one had 142hp and 160lb-ft of torque at a useless 4000RPM

The Tacoma 4X4 got the 3RZ-FE 2.7
This one had 150hp and 177lb-ft of torque at a a still reall useless 4000RPM

Now, Tacoma also came with the V6, the 5VZ-FE...my personal favourite...and the one i'm using now
This one has 190hp and 220 lb-ft of torque.

All you have to do is add a TRD supercharger, a nice intake and exhaust and you can expect a 50-100 power gain and it'll kiss any American truck goodbye.

I'll still stay away from the R/T 10 RAM with the 8.0 Viper engine and the insane 5.9L Dakota. Notice how they need more than double the engine to keep up with Toyota...
