If your stalling your car.... you shouldn't really be worried about why it's knocking. More why your stalling it

ok obviously noone knows - no i dont stall my car, but as with everyone, i dont care how pro star you are, late at night comin home from the gf's or whatever, let off the clutch a little to fast w/o enough gas and it knocks a little and then gets going.

Hard to say, really. I've only really experienced what Flashmn said. RPM is so low that the engine shakes and makes the whole car rattle.
If you have a genuine knocking, it could be detonation. Or it could be that the burning mixture is building too much pressure too early and hammering the rod bearings. Either way, avoid it

well obviously when the rpm goes so down that it shakes, the pistons etc rattle and timing is way off.
