what to do?

i just bought a 1991 celica. it has a 2200 camry engine in it. im assuming it was wrecked once because the red on the hood doesnt match the rest of the car, but anyways the engine leaks oil and the rings are going bad. other than that its a nice celica i was wondering what i should do to make this celica stand out, moneys not a problem my mechanical knowledge isnt bad, but my last project was a 1971 chevelle i need some help on which way to go with this, any suggestions? thanks

In my dream world, I'd try to find a way to install a 2jz under the hood while leaving the rest of the car as stock looking as possible.
Actually I've considered the 2jz for an AE92 but it may not be at all possible!

Don't mind me....I'm just dreaming!

you can swap in 3sgte heads and turbo, and make a 2.2 hybrid 3sgte/5sfe called a "5sgte", but it's not as easy as it sounds...

you can search for it, i think it was explained in detail a while back...

So basically your looking at a rebuild. If your going to tear the engine apart and put new oil piston rings on, you might as well do all forged intenals while it's apart. Unless you just plan on it as a daily driver, then just leave it. Or find something new. Piston rings are a pain in the but (paying for them to be done at least). And probably not worht it if the car has high miles.

MississaugaGTS: That had nothing to do with his questions. Why did you even bother to post it? It was obvious that he wasn't looking for that

well i want to be able to drive it, but i also want it fast. thats pretty much what i did to my chevelle so i wanted to try and do it to the celica. i just didnt know if the engine in it now was good enough to make fast or if i should go with another one from what i hear a 3sGTE. i was just going for opinions street driver and ocassional runner.

Whoa man, Your comparing a 350 V8 to a 4cyl? Not the same platform man. It's going to be a lot harder to get the Celica moving at what a Chevelle can.

If your going to fix the piston rings, just replace everything. You get a good amount of gain, and then you'll be ready to add force induction or anything else you want.
