i wasn't sure how the routing was on the exhaust of the mr2, i know it's rear engine, but i didn't know where the exhaust goes from there. thanks for the reply.
On my buddies Camry I used the elbow that bolts on the turbo as a template to make a flange. You can also use the gasket (the one that goes in between turbo and elbow) as a template.
The flange was made out of 3/8" mild steel. I used a torch to cut it, cleaned it up with a grinder, then drilled the holes.
For the piping I used 2.5" mandrel bent piping.
You want to use stainless steel (321 SS) for the downpipe.
also i've been looking at pictures and it seems as if the stock mr2 manifold has more botls than does our stock 5sfe manifold. i thought it was a straight bolt on.??

The MR2 manifold has an extra bolt hole.
It is a straight bolt on, except one of the bolt holes is not used.
i'm not looking for something expensive, just something so i can do my IC pipes, downpipe,... simple stuff. i'd rather put the money i'd pay someone to do it, and get myself a welder for my garage. the cheapest i can get by with, is what i want.

I suggest a mig welder. Its relatively easy to use (still requires proper technique and skill though) and it'll do what you want.
For a mig welder I suggest that you get one that has a gas hookup. You'll get cleaner welds and less splatter vs. flux core. IMO flux core sucks.
You can use C25 (75% argon, 25% co2 mix) or straight c02 as a shielding gas for mig welding. C25 will give you cleaner smoother welds with less splatter, but it costs more then c02.
Miller and Lincoln Electric would be on the top of my list. They make sweet welders.
However I've heard that the Hobart mig welders are made by Miller. I'm not sure if its true or not, but my friends neighboor bought one recently and I've played with it. It welds nice.
uhm, i was looking to spend, a little bit less than what you said, 500-600. maybe a lot less. lol. can you recommend anything cheaper??? maybe mig is not for me at the moment. i'm still in school, once i get a real job i think i'll probably get one of those, but for now maybe something cheap. i was thinking 100-200.
