Tony, and whoever did projectors, maybe you can help. I have a pair of Celica headlamps. These things are HUGE, and the internals are completely impossible to get to. I had to use a jig saw to cut through the plastic because double sided tape holds the lens in place (damn Japanese quality).

Now the hard part...half of the projector (the one that has the lens) is all metal and is stuck to a mounting plate that also holds the aiming screw. How do I get rid of it? With a big giant scissor made to cut metal? It's about 1/4" thick.

Hey Chris, so basically you re trying to get rid of all the unnecessary parts that are attached to the projectors, right?

The hard part is that every projector is different, that's why it is nearly impossible for me to set up a certain step-by-step procedure in this conversion.

Perhaps you can try to use a Dremel Diamond cutter.. that should be strong and sharp enough to slice through the metal and still have a lot of flexibility and giving the projectors a clean cut. That's where all the work is...all the hours spent trimming and cutting... and MAKE sure you copy down what materials you have removed from the projector capsule because you will want both projectors to look identical.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the tips. I tried a small bolt cutter and it works great. But now I have another problem...my headlamp lenses are glued on with very strong double sided tape. Is this true for Gen3 lamps too? How did you get around it?

yep i had the same problem...

just stick your light in your oven at around 250....and let your headlight cook for about 5-10 mins.

take them out they shouldnt be too hot

grab a knife or exacto knife and carefully slice through the sticky stuff....

hope thats helps ya man

Silicone sealant should do.. or if you want to be sure, put some sikaflex in between, but then again sikaflex would make the joint permanent.
