mr2 hot and cold switch

I have a 91 mr2 NA but anyone could really answer this question...

The other day out of no where, I could not slide the tab over to warm air (the red side) in my car from the cold side (blue side). But I could slide it over to the cold side.

I then figured out that I could lift up the tab and then slide it over to the warm side and I've been doing that everytime i need some warm air which is a pain.

I took off the tab to check it out and there is a black piece that is cracked on the right side (which is the same side it cant slide).

Do I need a whole new unit now or what? Ah is a pain. Thanks for your guys' help

Sound like a good opportunity to visit a wrecking yard (auto recycler)
