Question Engine Rebuild ?

What's all involved in rebuilding an engine?
Replace gaskets, clean and polish.... what else?

bore, hone, clean/replace pistons depending on bore and condition, rings, replace bearings (main and if equipped cam), machine journals (if required), gaskets, valve components if they're out of spec (guides, seals, springs), new bolts, should replace the oil pump, overall cleaning, if there's journal damage turn the crank and cams, machine mating surfaces as required, new shims for the valves if required, a little paint and slap it together per the TSRM.

Probably forgot a couple of items, but you got most of it. Outside of machine work and precision measuring tools, most is do-able at home believe it or not.

dont forget get lil stuff like clean the injectors get a new fuel pump. make sure theres nothing in your intake manifold(might as well) do overall tuneup+. cuase theres no point in rebuiulding an engine and having a messed up fuel pump or something simple.
