remove a/c ?

I want to take out my whole ac system

1. cause it doesnt work anyway
2. to free up a little more power

Has anyone here done this and can give some tips? hoe tows?

what all needs to be taken out?

Compressor, belt, various hose lines.......?

Have a shop pump out the freon, then just remove everything related to the a/c. Compressor, hoses, brackets. You'll probably have to get a shorter belt to replace the one you take out. The evaporator coil is in the heater box under the dash and would probably be a pain in the butt to remove, so just take out the hoses to the firewall. Your biggest gain will be the weight loss. The pulley uses nothing unless the a/c is actually on.

Why do you want to take it out?
When its turned off theres no power loss anyhow, cuz the magnetic clutch is disengaged. If thats the reason.
