3s block 5s crank

so if i took a 3s block and had a 5s (2.2l) crank machined to fit 3S-GTE rod journals would it make it a 2.2 if i used that crank?

If you want a 2.2L Turbo, get a 5S block and put the 3S-GTE head on it.

Yes, you'd have a stroked 3S.

Crower and Pauter make rods that fit a 5S crank, so you don't have to machine the crank.

3s is supposed to have thicker walls. That's one reason everyone opts out of the 5sfte and gets scared of the 5sgte( well and the money needed too).

Isnt the 5S block taller than the 3S, if thats the case you wont be able to use the crank, nor the 5S internals.

Slightly bigger. 3.43" (87mm) vs. 3.39" (86mm).

Wraith,
did you have to do much to plumb for oil? Like are you using piston squirters? Where did you tap in for oil to the turbo? Just curious. I figure the drain back would be easy...
What other differences are there besides the 5S being a taller deck?

I did not plumb for oil squiters... I tapped the oil for the turbo at the head. The 5s-fe has bigger water and oil passages than the 3sgte. The bore is slightly bigger and the block can take a bigger sleeve...
