I drive a 1993 Camry LE. On the stick for the tranny i have a OD button (i think it is overdrive) and below on the center console there is a ECT button. What are these two and what do they do? Can you use them at the same time, would it give the car more power?

OD................ is overdrive. All it does is enable and disable the final gear on your tranny for fuel economy puposes. OD on = enable last gear....good for the highway...better fuel economy. OD off....last gear off...good for inside city driving etc....

ECT, when ON, is a higher power shift pattern. You'll notice when ect is on and you're slamming the gas, you will see the car shift at a higher RPM (check your tach while you compare the two modes). You CAN have both on at the same time so no worries there.

Your owner's manual explains the functions of both buttons. Read it.

You don't know what the OD and ECT buttons are, but you want to know about turbo??????

On the 4Runner, the ECT makes it feel like a V8. But, I guess it also makes it gulp fuel like a V8 as well.
