Question turbo charging a KE30? Can it be done?

Is anyone familier with the corolla KE30 from 1975?? I am looking at turbo or supercharging it and was wondering if anyone could help me out with it? Just what i need to get ie, parts and if anyone has already done it. Thanks heaps.

You can turbo or supercharge anything your budget can carry...carb engines add a certain complexity, but can be done.

man carbs are easyer to turbo then efi , first how much boost do u want to run? you have to have that number picket out befor you decide if you want to run a blow thought or a suck throught carb

suck thought carb: carb is mounted at the front of the cold side of the turbocharger were filter gos

good: vary vary easy to do

bad: cant have low spots in charg pipe (fuel will colect, and for that reasion you cant runn an intercooler witch is ok for boost below 7 psi) and it starts harder on cold days, less correct air/fuel

blow thought carb (s) :carb mounted befor the intake ports on the head, better one of the two

good:can run more then 7 psi because you can run a intercooler and dont have to worry about fuel colecting, starts easyer on cold days and more of a correct air/fuel

bad: there is only one bad thing, the carb needs to be taken appart and moded to run this way (chang the flot, make air tight and such)

hope this helps

seeings as it is a really small engine i was hoping to get as much boost as i can without really changing much to the diff or engine ect, the blow thro carb sounds like a better option but prolly cost more is this right? does any one know an rough price and any idea of how much difference it will actually make?

THanks so much for all ur help guys

yea the blow thought will cost more but you max hp out of your car so the other isent even to be conciderd, and your car will run better too. as for the price, just get a carb repair book from vip (or some other store like that) and do it your self and lurn, a book that has a really good "how to" is "maximun boost" by corky bell. as for hp you can make its all about the turbo you pick, the biger the better, if fast spool up is what you want get a turbo with a small hot side a/r, if max hp is what you want (more turbo lag) get a turbo with a biger hot side a/r but since you got like a bike power plant in that thing i would look for somthing like a t3 super 60

your corolla is equipped with a 3K/3KC motor. you should e-mail this guy Conrad Andres. he's running a boosted 1.3L (4K) version of your motor.

here's the site... http://ace.tupeck.com/1982_Starlet.asp

here's what he's doing... http://www.kp61.net/theBoard/viewtopic.php?t=44
