map conversion???

In our cars (anything with a Toyota air flower meter) this is the most restrictive part in the air inlet, has any one ever converted to a map sensor and how is it done?

Define "our cars". Many Toyotas use flapper door, some hot wire, MAP and Karman vortex...and depending on which particular car you own, some aftermarket solutions may already exist.

Hey Bob, I think he was simply talking about late 80s-early 90s cars we both have that have the old flapper door potentiometer type mass airs

yup, i wanna know too. according to the people i know that did the test on a ST 20V AFM and a converted MAP one, there's not much difference in performance.

and according to one of my very good sources who was working for toyota during the production run of the 4AG. He said that the 5 valve version of the 4AG was produced only until thay came up with a new engine for the new E series vehicles. when asked, how come they came out with 2 versions, he took both the AFM from the ST and MAP from the BT, then responded... "Which is cheaper to produce in great numbers?". according to him it's mostly marketing gimmick.

The flap-based air flow potentiometer is much more accurate than a Manifold absolute pressure sensor.
