Question Eleise engine mods

The new Lotus Eliese is packing a Toyota engine sourced from the MR2. Dose this mean that TRD and other aftermarket parts will be compatible??? I've been looking into one, but there is no factory forced induction yet. With a little turbo power this thing could be a monster. So dose anyone think parts developed for the Toyotas will fit on the Lotus?

the lotus elise is packing the 2zz-ge which is the VVTI-L engine its setup with 190hp. its the same motor thats in the celica gt-s, matrix xrs, and corolla xrs. just tuned for higher performance. not completly sure but my guess would be anything available in those might work except for a quick shift kit since the enigne is mid design.

You do realize that this car weights 1300lbs??.... and that 200hp will probably get you anywhere just as fast as you need to go :p. And the engine isn't out of an MR2.... mr2 got stuck with the shit pile 1zz. . I don't think the 2zz is a great engine to boost (if even possible) with the VVTLI and all that madness... I don't think you can go ems on them. I dunno... i couold be talking out my ass. The Elise has a different ecu and tranny if i remember right though.

The 2ZZ-GE has too high compression to begin with (whatzit, 11.0:1?), and from that alone, I'd say that it isn't a good forced induction platform without a lot of work.

no its the same 6 speed transmission from the toyota models with the 2zz-ge. yes you can turbo it just as mentioned it involves alot of work is my guess or low amount of boost that will still send the thing screaming.

The car actually Weights in just over 2000lbs.
1300lbs would be insane! It would accelerate like a bike!

Have you driven the car yet? I think you should before considering this because this car is fast already. It isn't a drag car.

but if you want to you can probably get it turbocharged just like some GTS celicas. Need new internals for sure though.

Lotus revised the ECU on that car. I think that was the only significant modification. There are two redlines: one is available for only 1.5 seconds (8500 RPMs) and the second can be sustained as long as you want (or have gas to burn) at 8000 RPMs.

The car is a rocket! It's pretty quick until 6000 RPMs then the second cam kicks in and it sounds almost like a motorcycle. Second gear can already get you in trouble with the law for speeding and there are six gears. How fast do you want to go?

I did not drive it myself but was a passenger. The car belongs to a friend. I only rode in it once.

Indeed it runs a mid 13 right out of the box, who needs forced induction.

Its quick yes, but not gawd awful super car fast. I think another 50 or so horses wouldn't hurt. I don't think it will hang with the big boys like the Viper or the Porche GT 3. I only brought it up because I am in line for a new job next year that may alow me to afford one. I like the orange one.

The thing is it would hang with and beat them in a road course, all with hundreds less Horse Power. The Elise is a very finley ballanced/tuned machine. I think the Elise would respond better to some mild fuel tuning (maybe with a Power FC) and a more open exhaust than it would just slapping a Turbo Kit on it. It's the kind of car that you would have to drive hard for a couple of years on tracks before you start fucking around with it, because the thing is, it would take that long to reach the level where you could actually take the car to the limmit. Before you can do that, it makes no sense to raise its potential.

Besides, FI just adds weight to it.

Call me crazy but I'd take an Elise over a viper...maybe even a GT3
