brake pads replacement

Possibly somewhat silly question:
Is it necessary to bleed the brakes when just changing pads? If so, why?
Does it depend on the model?

I don't plan on doing anything else. No caliper adjusting or anything.
I just want to be sure cause I've never changed pads myself. And I REALLY don't want to mess up my brakes.

you shouldn't have to bleed the brakes just take the master cylinder cover off and push the caliper back.

If you got an extra person, keep an eye on the fluid level of the master cylionder when you spread the caliper (push the into the caliper) and wipe any spills.

While your there, if the bleeder screw has a cap, leave it there. If it does not have a cap, clean it.

Cool

Always a good idea to bleed them. Just put a hose that fits on the nipple into a cup full of brake fluid. Pump until no air is present in the hose and cap the nipple.
Takes less than 10 min.

He is talking about preventive maintenance, so you don't have problems in the future.
