Hey

I have a 4agze imported from japan. It was in a levin before but i wonder if its from 1991 or 1992. How can i check what year the engine is from?
What spark plugs are the oem for 1991 or 1992?

Best Regards

Well, '91 and '92 are both AE101. Is the dipstick gray?

Stock plugs are Denso PQ20-R8 which is NGK BPCR6EP-N8.

Is the MAP sensor attached to the rear valve cover? What's the p/n? Does the s/c pulley look like a big "+"?

It sounds like you've got an AE92 motor.

'88-'91 = 2nd Gen. GZE MAP based from AE92 (165 claimed hp)
'92-'95 = 3rd Gen. GZE MAP based from AE101 (170 claimed hp)

I think AE101 actually begins at like 91.6 or so. My GZE is an AE101, date stamped 8/91 on different areas.

Btw, there are 4 generations of the 4AGZE: AFM + Dizzy, AFM + DLI, MAP + DLI (AE92) and MAP + DLI (more boost, dual exhaust, AE101)

Tim... i'm pretty sure that the stamping signify the manufacturing date so that means your motor was built in August 1991, which means that the motor was most likely put on a 1992 AE101. that makes yours a 1992. that's how i understood it.
