I have a 96 tacoma 4 wheel drive, 4 cylinder, 2.7l. I wanted to know if it's ok to go with after

market O2 sensors? I was told by the dealer not too. Also could a bad O2 sensor cause a

catalytic converter to go bad?

A bad O2 sensor will send the wrong reading to the computer. As a result the computer may dump too much fuel into the engine, which could ruin the converter. Why do you think the O2 sensor is bad, is the check engine light on? Is so what codes are you getting? A weak or non functioning converter will set a code. And like fred says, your better off with the OEM stuff when it comes to certain sensors.
