dual exh. setup

Is this a lame idea to make a dual setup for a single exhaust for a Matrix XRS? I kinda want to get a clear idea of what to do and not to do. I was reading on the Toyota Truck forum that someone wanted to know if they can make a dual exh. out of a 4 cyl.. Answers were entitled for the project as having a loss of power and i wouldn't be a true dual. Now the Matrix being a 4 cyl., i plan to install aftermarket headers and a 1/4 in. increase in pipe. Also i was told that i can do a dual setup from the axel back and my question is will it have the same effect as the truck?

it'll look good.....

and no, it won't be a true dual exhaust...it'll just be a y-pipe...
you'll lose backpressure, but it shouldn't be too bad if you use small piping, but its more so that you'll be carrying around anothe muffler and extra piping that'll just weigh you down

well i'm lookin' more for performance than looks but i'll just go w/ one for now. If i go w/ one should i bump the piping up or leave it stock? Should i leave everything else on there such as the resonator and the other cat. converter?

no, if you go performance, then go all the way and get slightly bigger piping...if its stock 2" then go 2.25 and add a high flow cat and resonator (or just get rid of the resonator all together)

Well i'll see how much for 1 set up minus the resonator and high flow cat.. There's a couple places that i went to for some pretty good prices. I really want to get all this done for the cali. meet in march.
