Does anyone know of any companies that offer stronger drive axles for Gen4 Camrys.
I did some searches here at TN and found really nothing. I have 110k on a 98 S/C auto- probably somewhere around 230-240 at the wheels. I want to replace them before I hit the track this spring. With a LSD going in soon, splines are gonna give and that is the right time to replace the axles anyway while doing the LSD. There are many force fed Camry owners here at TN- Are stock or aftermarket axles adequate to hold up to 250whp??
I can't help with the search for larger axles,
but by the time you hit 250hp(not whp), you need stronger ones. Especially with a M/T. The half-shafts themselves can't take hard launches and will break in half.
Wether that's just from old age, or they actually can't take the power, IDK.
If you search, you'll find a thread about Wraith's axles.

for anything, anytime; including camry turbos Now with Turbo!
The axles used on you car a very similar to the ones used on the MR2 turbo... I wouldn't worry too much about them. Multiple guys have been running around with 270-280whp without any problems. A buddy of mine has a 220whp auto V6 camry with no issues on the stock axles.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Thanks for the replies. I feel a little better now. As for the lifetime warranty, that's great for the $50 bucks. But if they bust every month that becomes very inconvenient and expensive for me because I don't have the setup to do them myself to save on labor. I guess I will push the envelope and least try the a/m axles once...

I've never heard of a company making lsd's for a automatic trans, especially for the camrys or solaras...
Wraith~ Happy to help an icon like yourself. Give John a call at importperformancetrans.com (check their site). He can special machine the LSD it to the differential of the automatics. I had already had the valve bod mod to the tranny done by IPT. John is cool to work with, seems to be confident in what he does, fair pricing and timely turnaround. I have already referred a few folks to John. There is a guy by the name of Joe B with a 99 Solara which you can see on cardomain.com who has an auto. with TRD S/C and currently doing a complete motor and tranny job and is adding nitrous(looking for 400 hp0. He is having IPT do the LSD and tranny upgrade. Joe is as crazy dedicated as you are about his car. Hope this helps- looking forward to your project completion. Peace

Thanks G! John (IPT Performance Transmissions) just finished completely building my transmission, torque converter and LSD and it arrived at my mechanics shop (Arrieta MotorSports in Clinton, MD) this past Monday. I think the stock axles in our car are fine. Toyota makes some of the best/strongest axles on the market. If I snap mine, I'll let you know. Thanks again for telling me about John! He was great to work with! -JoeB

JoeB~ Nice to see you have joined this board. Good thing I was talking Well about you . Very curious to see your completion as well. Been checking out cardomain, good stuff. Chow for now.
you can get axles for 50 bucks a peice at autozone and they come with a lifetime guarentee. just take them back every time you break them
silly... who wants to replace a driveshaft after every race? who wants to brake a shaft every race, and not be able to race... RIIIIGHT, once you get 300-400 hp, just keep changing those driveshafts till your hands fall off.
