just wondering how u guys push ur car out from 0 km/h in a drag race..
this guy told me...
rev the engine and hold at.. say.. 3500rpm for my car.. clutch down
when starting, let the clutch go and step on the gas to full throttle
this way.. the tires spin a little, and the car jumps forward
as for shifting btw 1st-2nd, 2nd-3rd..
hold the gas, simply shift as fast as u can, and let the clutch go fast as u can..
the tire spins a little too..
i dunno if the car does go faster or not..
but i know it is definitely not good for the tranmission.. @@
how do u guys drag?

the way u're describing is a clutch-drop start and powershifting...
IMO, clutch-drop is the fastest way to start, but powershifting isn't the fastest way to shift becasue every time ur tires are chirping, they're slipping, which means there's power going to waste.

I rev slightly (no tach so don't know where exactly, probably around 3500rpm), drop the clutch and then floor it as I'm dropping it so the engine won't lug, if it does then I've dropped the clutch too fast or didn't rev high enough. Then I just shift as I usually do, redlining it every time tho and yanking the shifter faster than usual is all. Every shift the clutch is released and reengaged as fast as possible, without chirping the tires, which is getting increasingly difficult thanks to my damn tires having no freaking tread left.

u gotta try it urself.
every car is different, so u cant make a guideline and say "oh i drop the clutch at 3000rpm" try different rpms and see which is fastest...some u will get too much wheel spin and some the engine will bog. so inbetween is best. and PLEASE dont do the powershifting stupidness. it is hard on ur clutch, and i doubt it really helps in ETs. just shift as quick as possible.

I dont even let the tires scream in a good launch, smoothly but quickly release the clutch.

drop the clutch with just enough RPM to just chirp, then floor it personally i feel the car when the engine feels like its no longer pulling i hit second as fast as possible and up through the gears. some engines don't pull good all the way up to redline! I find FE engines pull nice between 4000 and 5500 GE's i hear do pull good all the way to fuel cut.

i think u should shift just after the max HP RPM.. u may not feel as much pull after the max torque RPM.. but u should still go up till max HP...
well.. it's kinda hard to explain the reasoning bhind this.. but i think this is the rite way..
