Is it possible? Will it fit? I'm not sure about how the 2jz is mounted in the supra, it could just be a pipe dream. Still, the idea of a little pocket rocket like an mr2 haulin ass with i6 power just gives me the warm fuzzies.
Any help on this would be appreciated. If it will fit, I'd appreciate anyone who might be able to give me an idea of cost, if it wont, tell me I'm a fool and just build up the 3sgte.
if you want 6 cylinders do the 1mz-fe swap fitting in a rwd engine to a transaxle design i don't think it would work so well.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I get the impression the 1mzfe has nowhere near the performance potential of the 2jz?
The whole point of this would be to invest some $$$ and start pushing some serious numbers... I can hit ~400 horses with the 3sgte for less money, I'm thinking bigger (stupider)
That, and you might call this stupid, but I have an affinity for inline sixes. It's a heritage thing.
I shudder to think what that kind of torque would feel like in a car that light. Gotta mae sure the T-tops are on or I might fly out the roof
You'd need some 10 Tread wear tires say maybe 36" or so just to get traction. It's not worth it just to say you have the power. You'll never be able to put it down. And you'll never have control of the car in cornering.

It's not possible without a custom transaxle... You can show pictures of RWD celicas and such all you want... but it's not possible without a completely custom transaxle to mount it in anything transverse... not even mentioning the fact that the engine is really really long and significant body modifications will have to be done to get the engine and tranny to mount properly transeverse. As of current... not possible without basically building a completely custom car.

I pointed out that it would cost massive amounts of money already. Make sure and read my whole 3 sentence post next time

NO IT WILL NOT WORK. DON'T TRY..... DON'T THINK ABOUT IT. IT WILL NOT WORK.
The only way it would be possible is if you streched the MR2 about 5 feet sideways. Do you realize how long the 2jz is? Where would you mount the transaxle? The only way it would be possible is to mount it partially in the cab and loose the trunk and relocate the gas tank..... then you would still have the problem of placing the tranny. This is a very common question.... just won't work. Not to mention...... once you had it done.... you would have way too much weight in the ass of your car to be able to have any fun in it.
well the 2jz is a helluva lot bigger than the 3SGTE. If you wanted to swap a JZ engine in the 1JZ would probably be easier.

Oh no... I did read your post... and my response is still the same. It just won't work...
BTW... nearly 1/2 of your 10K estimate will go to buying just the engine...
Your taking it out of context. The $10k in custom work has nothing to do with buying the engine. It has to do with customizing the car to fit. I never said anything about buying the engine in my post. Just about fitment.
The picutre of the Celica was mearly showing that they have dropped it in everything already. As I stated earlier. Meaning I don't find it impressive anymore.
Anythign can be done with enough custom work. Shit, they drop V8's in Fiero's and V6's the rear of Festiva's. Anything is possible if your willing to do the work and put the money into it.
