3sgte potential in mr2
Sorry the last thread got off topic, but this is somewhat of a continuation.
Assuming I'm sticking with the 3s, in the mr2, what's the max power/boost I can PRACTICALLY obtain from it, and put on the road w/o spinning my wheels every time I give it gas? (Although it damned-well BETTER spin its wheels when I floor it from a stop/low speed)
Assume for these purposes a decent set of street slicks, and all relatively easily obtainable engine upgrades (connecting rods, rockers, MHG, etc.) Obviously assume all other relevant upgrades as well (Turbo, ECU, fuel system, exhaust, headwork, etc.)
I'm assuming the mid-engine design will help in this respect, given the added weight over the rear wheels.
My reason for asking is this: Will an mr2 be able, if fully built, to go toe-to-toe with the more standard heavyweights like Supra, eclipse, skyline (lots of r32's and 33's around here), etc.? Or will I basically be confined to the twisties if I want to be competitive? I know the mr2 isn't a drag car, and that's not what I'm looking for, but I'm hoping that its light weight might make up for lack of displacement. I'm just worried 'cause I haven't seen many tricked out 2's at all, even though the sceen is pretty big here. Is there a reason for this, or has it just not really been discovered yet?
