I'm looking at doing some build up on my engine. Right around 320bhp (I'm shooting for 250hp-260hp at the wheels). It's an Auto matted to the 3vz engine in a '92 Camry. It was rebuild about 7,000 miles ago. Do you think it is strong enough to handle the occasional beating of 320bhp? Day to day it would be detuned (via a SMT6 unit) and driven lightly for best mileage.
Thanks,
-Mike

Mike yu might be in the clear, I guess it depends on the mods....and the use... from what you said, I think it would work, wished it was manual...damn those things are immortal. Let me know what your doing, I am doing a wet fogger setup on my 92 V6 SE 5 speed (10oz bottle though)
Not gonna happen with a VB upgrade and an extra cooler. It's gonna have to be rebuilt.

If Gadget doesn't use levelten anymore, I don't think anyone should use levelten.

Hope you save it quickly.
Took Tony one month (give or take on my memory) before his had shifting problems, later dropping a gear, and ceasing to exist by the 3rd month. That was when he had the small CT-26, then upgraded it, then had around 375hp.
My outlook on it is grim. They won't hold 250bhp stock over time.

I really don't think so.
Come on... They were strong for their era, but I don't think that strong.
They were built back in the 1980's and mechanically didn't change much over their (around) 15 year life. They were holding 220hp+, back when other manufactures couldn't BUILD a 200bhp fwd tranny.

I dunno, I think the 5 speed can handle it...but your right Toysrme (I feel weird saying that), one slip and the whole think is nuked. I have no intention of 300+....happier with about 230-240. Besides, spent too much on the car, and now I can't fathom dropping a new engine and tranny in it
