Removing the lower timing gear.

On the 4AGE...
I cant do it. I have an extra block I picked up from nick, and I basicly fuc*ed the key on the crankshaft. I am going to have to cut off the lower gear with a torch, so I can remove the oil-pump housing. But I cannot use this method to remove the gear off the motor in my car. Anyone who has a bible, can you please check on the proper procedure on how to remove the lower gear so I my replace my oil-pump housing. I have been without my car for like 6 weeks now and am getting frustated enough to send the AE to the scrapyard! :x

dude...its so easy....YOU HAVE to get an engine stand.

prop it up. take off the oil pan. now with a pry bar, carefully position it in between the oil pump and the first rod bearing/counter weight. pry very carefully and easily edge the pump off. voila.

its says right in the ae86 manual....be very careful though!!!!! i don't want to have to part with another oil pump!!!

I imagine that getting the pump off is a breeze, but the gear has to come off first right? I cant get the gear off. does the book say anything about the gear?

Or are you telling me that the gear doesnt have to come off?

so the shaft that comes out of the pump... that is th the crank-shaft right? I cant get the little key out of the crank-shaft/gear. How does it say to get the key out? Or do I just pop off the pump, gear, key, shaft and all? Can you post pic's of what the manual says?
