Engine swap
Ok this is a question for the diehard toyota buffs.
I have aquired a freshly rebuilt 18R-C engine with a hot street cam, headers, polished/ported head and 4 speed manual tranny for 152 bucks. I bought it as a replacement for my 1982 Corona's motor the 21R-C.
Now the tech part, i have heard that the R- series engines and transmissions (except for the 5 speed from the turbo corona and some other trany, maybe the w55) are all easily interchangeable, and mainly that the transmissions will just bolt straight on. Would anyone know if this is true? Also if it wont go pretty much straight into the engine bay/existing mounts what will it take to fit it? (fairly detailed steps if posible).
Any help you can give me will be of great appreciation. I aquired this Corona as a free birthday gift as my first car, i love it because its very light and rear wheel drive, this helps the fact that its got a chronic lack of power from the 2 litre donk (97hp i think, 107 torque) but its still nice and vfast... im hopinh this motor will be better, especially with the header and cam work. And from what alot of peopel have told me in the past i just have to say one thing before anyone replys:
No im not selling it for another car as it was a gift, plus i like it.
I cant buy much stuff or a fitting service as i have a chronic shortage of cash die to school, id like to do alot myself (and my uncle has a roof engine hoist and a large selection of tools, same with me minus the hoist.
and finally please dont bag out the corona, im sick of people on alot of public forums that bug me to buy a faster RWD car... the only other ploblem with that is petrol, petrol is horrid in australia to buy, even the 2 litre is thirsty enough.
Any ways, please post up and go easy on me, im a newbie here.
