HI,i would like to askif its worth the 250.00(for outlaws aluminum wheels) or 600.00(for weld aluminum wheels)? Is there a noiticable gain in pickup/acceleration?I would probably get the outlaws sicnce thieves target the welds.I have steel wheels right now(14X6),and im not concerned with looks-only performance.I would shave about 80 pounds off the weight if I switched to aluminums. Also, what is the difference in sprung versus unsprung weight as it relates to steel vs. aluminum wheels, and which wheel has the advantage in handling...THANX
Wheels are wheels. The only time they can affect performance in handling and acceleration, is their weight, and size. That should be enough info for you to figure it out... I hope...

as far as one brand of rims outperforming the other, doesn't matter, really. a lighter wheel is better, I guess, however, it's really just something to attach tires to, tires really affect handling/performance.
and if you are worried about theft, get some locking wheel lugs, and save youself a headache.
Other things you have to consider in wheels is duarbility... I do not know much about aluminum wheels, but especially if you are doing a DD application, you need something that can withstand a pothole hit here and there... A dented wheel is bad news, and you can spend more $$$ replacing wheels than just buying higher durability ones up front

Lick first... ask questions later
For tiny-ass 14" wheels, who cares... The tires will weigh more than the actual rim anyway.
You are better off getting a set of performance tires which are usually much lighter than regular all seasons/touring tires.
And I don't think it will shave off 80 lbs. That's 20 lbs per wheel. At most you will shave off 10 lbs per wheel unless you get into forged wheels which is probably $350+ per wheel.
